Arizona Auto Insurance Laws

As mentioned in a previous post, different states have different requirements when it comes to auto insurance. There are state mandated laws and regulations requiring different kinds of coverage and what not.

This post explains the requirements of Arizona in regards Auto insurance coverage.

The state of Arizona is located in the southwestern region of the United Sates of America and the capital is Phoenix. Of course one of the crowning glories of Arizona is the amazing Grand Canyon. Arizona is a wonderful state, scattered throughout this State are many beautiful national parks and monuments.

If you live in Arizona you are required to have Bodily injury liability and Property Damage liability. The minimum amount is $15,000 per person and $30,000 per accident and $10,000 for property damage. The liability system in Arizona is based on the tort liability system meaning that if you were involved in an accident and you were not at fault you have a right to sue the people who were responsible for the accident and any damages and injuries they may have caused. If in an accident, a driver in Arizona is required to submit proof of their insurance within 30 days of the accident, the insurance provider is then required to confirm coverage. The penalties for non compliance to these laws are $250 in fines.

Teenagers in Arizona also have a different set of laws and regulations when it comes to auto insurance. First of all, you must be fifteen years old and six months in order to qualify for a license. Teenagers are required to have the same coverage as adults do however, insurance companies will most likely charge more far a teenage driver since accidents are at a higher probability, so if you are getting insurance for your teenager, keep in mind that your premiums will most definitely go up.
